Work Remotely in Boston?

Visa rules, tax triggers and the real cost of working from Boston — distilled into one practical guide.

THE QUICK ANSWER
No nomad permission

No — ESTA is not remote-work authorisation.

UK citizens can use ESTA for tourism or limited business visits of up to 90 days, but the United States has no digital-nomad visa. Ongoing productive work from the US generally requires an immigration status with suitable work authorisation.

Bottom lineThe Visa Waiver Program permits tourism and defined business-visitor activities, not open-ended employment. Foreign payroll does not automatically make ongoing remote work permissible.
